New overhead regulations
A new budget tool is available. In this new version, our new overhead regulations are incorporated. On this webpage, we explain the changes.

KiKa's mission is to cure all children with cancer and optimize their quality of life, also after treatment. We are convinced that research is essential to reach this goal. To optimize the budget that we are able to spend directly on research, we have adapted our overhead regulations:
- KiKa provides core funding to the Princess Máxima Center, which, amongst other sources, can be used to cover indirect costs. Indirect costs at the Máxima can no longer be covered by KiKa project funding. It is therefore no longer possible to request compensation for indirect/overhead costs over costs for personnel that is employed at the Princess Máxima Center.
- To allow researchers at other institutes to cover the costs needed to execute their research, it is allowed to request overhead compensation over costs for personnel employed at other institutes, if researchers are obliged by their institution to remit overhead costs. These costs should reflect the actual costs requested by the institution and are maximized at 16% of the personnel costs.
These new overhead regulations are incorporated in an updated version of the budget tool. Additionally, the remunerations for personnel costs will also be updated to the CAO-UMC compensations (due to changes per 1 July 2025) in this tool. Please use the new budget tool for future applications.
