How to submit an application
For research into childhood cancer
Researchers affiliated with any scientific institute in the Netherlands can apply for financial support for research projects that clearly focus on childhood cancer. Please note
A new budget tool is available. In this new version, our new overhead regulations are incorporated. We explain the changes here. Additionally, the remunerations for personnel costs have been updated to the CAO-UMC compensations, due to changes per 1 July 2025. Please use the new budget tool for future applications.
Upcoming deadlines
Research and pilot projects:
- 15 June 2025 (23:59).
- 12 October 2025 (23:59).
Research programs:
- Preapplication: 1 April 2025 (23:59).
- Applicants will be invited to present their preliminary application live on Friday afternoon, June 13 2025 (exact details will follow after submission).
- Full application: 12 October 2025 (23:59).

Submissions
Research and pilot projects:
Send the correct application form, the latest version of the budget tool, and all other attachments by email to research@kika.nl.
KiKa aims to complete a thorough and efficient review process within five months.
There are three review rounds each year. If a project is submitted by the deadline (at 23:59 the latest), it will be discussed at the next Scientific Board meeting.
Research programs:
A (pre)application can be sent by email to research@kika.nl. Researchers will be notified in early July whether they are invited to submit a full application.
Research program applications are reviewed once a year. Applicants must submit a preapplication and will be invited for a live Q&A session in June.
